Flipped Trees

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 11 April 2014 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I've admired these trees for years. I finally stopped and took some photos. In this image, there was a road and some buildings on the left side which I didn't want. I selected the right half and flipped it over to become the left half of the image. I used the following free textures: "Free Texture" by Distressed Jewel , "Texture 282" by lenabem-anna , and
Grandpa's Cedar and Suede (Blurred) by Distressed Jewell
My article "How to Add Interest to a Bland Landscape" is in the April edition of Denise Ippolito's MiniMag .

If you had not said, it would have taken me a while to see the reflected image as it all reads as one held by the textures and layers. A very fine result.

Beautiful image. I love the trees with their shape and bare branches, and the symmetry created by the flipping technique is really effective. Great textures and toning too.

Love the surreal nature of this mirrored image. At first glance, it just seems like a beautiful grouping of trees and then you realize that things are too symmetrical and there is that shock of surprise - love it! Beautiful, beautiful texture work. Love the way the shorn stalks of corn form an arrow pointing right at the trees.

Colors, tones, and textures are fantastic. You've captured one of the best things about winter ... tree skeletons.

Very interesting composition. I like the use of sky with texture as the backdrop. The corn stubble takes the eye right to the trees with their wonderful shapes.
