Narcissus

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 23 April 2013 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

I understand that Narcissus and Daffodil are names for the same flowers, but I always think of this one as a Narcissus.

Such a pure image of an innocent little flower that shared its name with the creation who wasted away from unsatisfied desire - whereupon he was transformed into this. Or, so a Greek told me !

Gorgeous, Anita, you captured the exquisite beauty of the flower so well. Love the tone-on-tone background and the soft light too.

Judy aka L@dybug from Brooksville, FL, United States

So beautiful, Anita; you captured it well.
The daffodil as I know it, is yellow and has a longer 'trumpet'.

23 Apr 2013 9:12pm

@Judy aka L@dybug: Thank you. I agree about daffodils.

Brenda from Canton, United States

I like how our eye is immediately drawn to the orange and yellow circular center and then the green stem - only then discovering the creamy petals that seem to melt into the surrounding background.

Exquisite! The petals are so subtle and demure. I really like their position and the center is a striking focal point.

Love the whites on whites here. It appears to be leaning into the camera's lens..almost nodding.
