Amish Farm on Grey Winter Day

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 6 February 2013 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I took this yesterday on my way home from the grocery store using my little Canon S100 which I always carry with me. A typical scene around here these days. Added several textures by Coffee Shop and Shadowhouse Creations.

I always like how your use of textures tends to hold images together - it works strongly here under the big sky.

@Ronnie 2¢: Thank you. I planned to use textures to bring this grey scene to life.

This scene could be on any road in this area ~ I love how your textures add so much to the gray day! Wonderful!

@RBL: Thank you. Yes, this is a scene you and I see everyday, but as I looked at the photo, it seemed it might be a special treat for many people. I took the photo with the intention of using textures.

@Tracy: High praise from an artist like you. thanks.

A gorgeous landscape. I like the way you have given so much space to the sky - even though it is (before texturing) your typical gray winter expanse. But your textures have brought it to life, all beautifully anchored by the softly rolling hills, tree line and farm buildings.

This is a fascinating blend between a photograph and a painting, and a beautiful and creative work of art!

I really admire the composition: the snowy road leading all the way from the left to that white clump of buildings on the right; then that wonderful expanse of sky to put it all in context. Beautifully done.

@GJC: Thank you for your detailed comments. I appreciate them.
