Blue Iris

These short, blue Iris were blooming in a short grass meadow by the ocean on Deer Isle, Maine.

Amazing background - that wild yellow-green. A stunning backdrop for the purple perfection of the petals - they jump out of the image. Subtle diagonal composition, highlighted by the tension of the petal touching the edge of the frame.

Nice clean composition and colours and great background, of course. Was the flower in shade or have you used something to block the direct sunlight? At least it looks to me like the flower wasn't in direct sunlight.
