Cineraria

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 2 February 2012 in Plant & Nature.

I'm back after a week of not posting.
My approach to photography is evolving into a slower pace, with more attention given to post-processing. Posts will probably be less frequent, but will still appear on a regular basis. This blog, which allows me to reach out to the world to share and receive feedback is an important part of my photographic education.
Thank you all for visiting and helping me become a better photographer.

Exquisite!

@Trina: Thanks, Trina! I finally visited Longwood Gardens after not going for a number of months. I needed some flower energy.

Marcie from United States

Such a gorgeous burst of color for this overcast day. Happy and uplifting...:-)!

2 Feb 2012 2:34pm

@Marcie: I'm delighted!

Barbara Kile from Ft. Worth, United States

Yes, Anita, I'm with you on the rationale. I'm having so much fun learning and experimenting too! This image is a thing of beauty with exquisite composition combined with a flair for the dramatic!

2 Feb 2012 3:02pm

@Barbara Kile: Thanks, Barbara! I hadn't planned on slowing down my postings, it just sort of happened. I keep working on my photography, and the shape of that work changes over time. When I began, I would never have expected to enjoy post processing. I'm now thinking this flower would also look good in a softer pink.

Bo Mackison from Madison, Wisconsin, United States

A simply delicious composition.

@Bo Mackison: Glad you like it.

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

Superb focus with this narrow dof, it makes such a wonderful image with this beautiful colour

very nice!

@omid: Thank you.

Tomas Turecek from Czech Republic

Great composition, ANita. Those juicy colours just call for summer and the delicate processing adds a nice twist. Unusual side ratio works also very well. My processing of photos also slowed down a bit but I'm telling myself every day that I must process and post another photo.

2 Feb 2012 7:23pm

@Tomas Turecek: Thank you, Tomas. I look forward to more of your work.

Arnd from Basel, Switzerland

I love the light and softness of the colours. But...for my money, I think it would be more impressive without those other petals imposing themselves. What do you think, anita? best to you, :OD
And, I've never seen a pink cineraria...usually over here they have helter-skelter powerful colour combinations and are not a delicate pink.

3 Feb 2012 6:52am

@janina: I agree with you on both counts. This Cineraria was purple and it was in a group with other Cinerarias, hence, the extra petals. Thanks for visiting and commenting. I always appreciate constructive critique as it helps improve my photography.

It looks like a tiny celebration going in in the center - which, I suppose in a way, there is ! I like the light-hearted and happy feeling to this.
