Posted by

This is how I often feel in the winter--stripped, bent and dark.

There is a lovely ancient, fossilized feeling about this as though it has been long undiscovered.

Love the contrasting greens in the background...and again - the shape and curve and how it plays out in the frame is exquisite!

Wow! Even without the caption, the emotional energy comes through. I can't recall a work of yours that is so successful at conveying that raw emotion -- true artistry, because you accomplish it through the combination of subject, composition, and intentional mix of textures.

Wonderful shot...I can image that the background texture is part of a storm-like winter environment.
Not surprising that he is bent.

23 Jan 2011 2:05am

@DULCIE: Thanks, Dulcie. That is what I was trying to capture with the textures.

Yeah, I guess y'all are getting quite sick of the cold and snow! A lovely interpretation, Anita.

26 Jan 2011 4:06am

@Barbara Kile: Well, I'm not complaining, but I do find myself drooping a bit in the winter. :-)

Jim Wilson from Malvern, Pennsylvania, United States

Came here after reading your post at Vision and Verb, Anita. I have to say that your photographs are probably the most original I have seen of flowers and plants. The textures are luxurious and...well, I'm not knowledgable enough photography to comment sensiblly about your techniques, but the end result is absolutely gorgeous.
