Tulip Poplar Flower

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 31 May 2010 in Plant & Nature.

Tulip Poplas is a common tree native to my area. It's lovely flowers are usually hidden by large leaves and by being high up. I brought this one inside to photograph. I added one of my textures.

Wow, such a gorgeous flower and colours! It works for me very well. I LOVE the amount of details in the centre and the sharpness. It blends to the background beautifully.

Julie Brown from Indianapolis, United States

The flowers are really pretty. Tulip poplars are the state tree of Indiana. They have high canopies-did you have to shinny up the tree to get this flower? :)

1 Jun 2010 3:19am

@Julie Brown: One of the Tulip Poplars in our back yard has low hanging branches, which I've left low on purposse. The lower branches usually have some flowers. This is the third year I've photographed the flowers, but the first year I got a decent image.

You have captured fall with the texture and color of the leaves. I've just come in for a quick break after digging up my dahlia tubers, and your photos are a treat. We have similar plants, but you have such an eye for composition and light.
