Peony

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 27 May 2010 in Plant & Nature.

I finally managed to get a Peony to grow and bloom in my garden! The actual color is a bit more red-wine color than this image. Taken indoors, natural light. Texture added.

I'll post white BG tomorrow.

Very nice, Anita! The colour is lovely and the decent background nicely supports it. I think that the blossom could be a great subject for real macro and abstract photography.

@Tomas Turecek: Thanks, Tomas. To see it on a white bg, go to BPN. I'd like to know which version you like best (there are 2 version at the link)--white bg or texture. I tried some macros, but none were successful.

Marcie from Newton, United States

Such deep rich color in this peony. Love the complimentary pink background.

Yes, the peonies are blooming in my garden too! Did you have ants on yours?

@Julie Brown: Yes, some ants, but not too many.

I am in the middle of a series on Peonies as well - they are such beautiful and delicate flowers and they don't last long. I like your background, and can't wait to see your other shot tomorrow....

A deep red beauty. I will have to enjoy this one from YOUR garden. I can not grow them here.
