Collapsed Roof

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 23 February 2010 in Documentary & Street.

The 2 feet of snow we got a couple of weeks ago was too much for the roof of this mushroom house (where mushrooms are grown) on our road. This sight prompted our neighbor who stores his farm machinery in our old barn with a rather flat roof to come clear it off. He and a friend used a snow blower. The day after, we got 1.5 feet of more snow. My husband and I spent hours over several days shovelling snow off again.

I used a Topaz Adjust filter.

The composition of this shot is so pleasing, Anita.
This is a very fresh image. I was glad for the story that went with it. :-)

Totally different image for you but I like the journalistic side to this image and the background you provided.

I hope you liked the motion, you got from shoveling snow ;-). Yes, Topaz/Adjust indeed (HDR-like). But was this the very best way to represent the scene? To me snow is often very beautiful in itself. Anyway interesting as I am on the brink of investing in Topaz software myself.

@Henrik Herskind: I appreciate your comment. Not sure this was the best way to represent snow. It was a way to play around and experiment. The shoveling was a good way to get exercise and be outside! :-)

I like your treatment for this image. The treatment, in my opinion, emphasizes the character of the old building. The treatment might not have been so effective used on a beautiful landscape. Sorry the snow has given you such problems. Hope you're all "dug out" by now!
