Dry Goldenrod

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 18 December 2009 in Plant & Nature.

I cut some dry Goldenrod from the meadow behind our house and photographed it indoors in natural light using a macro lens and tripod. In post processing, I added one or two Topaz Adjust filters, made various adjustments in PS7 and overlaid it with one of my own textures of Japanese handmade paper.

That's COOL...very beautiful !
(So that's how you achieved the rectangular edge...by photographing a texture in front of something else??? Hmmm. I've not been able to get that or any kind of 'edge' or 'frame' texture yet. Good job !!!

18 Dec 2009 6:30am

@Dulcie: Dulcie: Thanks! The texture is a piece of stationary which I layed down on a white mat board or foam board and photographed with camera pointing straight down. Like you, I haven't been successful with edge textures.

Nice post processing! I've seen plants such as this colorized with a hue/saturation layer, check 'colorize' and play with the luminosity and saturation to taste. Fun to experiment! Love the paper texture!

Quite a lovely piece of work, and I like the fact that it seems to exist somewhere between photography and other realms of printed art.

Very nice, Anita! It looks like captured outdoors in gloomy winter day and only frame was added. It certainly eveokes some feelings - winter, frost, solitude, old age, gloomy atmosphere. Good work.
