Gaillardia or Blanket Flower

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 1 December 2009 in Plant & Nature.

I took this photo this past summer and posted it on June 6 with a white BG. Fot today's post, I used Topaz Adjust and Topaz Simplify filters, and added two of my textures and a vignette.

This is very artsy - it has a unique personality and you captured it well with a nice simple texture!

I definitely like this one more than the one posted on August 6. The composition, colours, light and textures makes this image extraordinary.

Ehh... the version with white background was posted 8 June. Anyway, this version makes the h... of a difference in comparison to the one with white background. Another wonder of texturizing! How will this end?

@Henrik Herskind: Thanks for alerting me to my error! I'm glad you like it. Who knows where it will end!!

Now this is what I have come to expect from you, Anita. Beautiful texture work.

The two versions are examples of your styles. I prefer this one with the silk painting look. The colour of the background was perfectly chosen, quite harmoniously to the colours of the flower. May be the choice of a white background wasn't the better one for the portrait (that of June) version.

@António Pires: Thanks for your thoughts. When I used the white BG, I was experimenting with a series of flowers against white. I've seen it done very well, but, it is quite challenging. The benefit of the white, is that it makes it easy to add a texture.

Very pretty rendition of the photo.

This is my favorite of your 'styles' as it is so distinctive and recognizable. The balance with the background here is perfection.

@Ronnie 2¢: Thanks! I feel that I am in the process of developing a style or styles, and have a ways to go.

The texture gives the image nearly a vintage feel. I can't take my eyes off of the one graceful, curly leaf! ;)
