Wagon Wheel

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 24 December 2008 in Transportation.

I took this picture last Saturday at Hopewell Furnace Historic National Park, Pennsylvania, USA, same place as my last post.
We had two cold but sunny days! Yay! My spirits rose. What a difference blue sky, white clouds and sunshine make in how I feel. :-)

I love the composition in this - with the curve and angled spokes, and the contrast between man made and natural...
Wonderful shot.....
Merry Christmas!

I can attest to that also, Anita. Having lived most of my life in Colorado where the sun shines about 300 days a year the midwest has been difficult for me. Wonderful light in this image!

Good choices: The bold, dominating images of the curved rim and spoke (red works so much better than a brown wheel would have in this context) balanced against the texture created by the many crumpled leaves. The foreground is made more vivid by the contrast with the slash of light behind. I'm trying to figure out if the second wheel distracts from the front, but I'd much rather you take this photo than skip it because you can't make it "perfect."
