Begonia

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 18 August 2008 in Plant & Nature.

Friday was a lightly overcast day, perfect for taking outdoor photos of flowers. I took myself to Longwood Gardens, where I discovered I was not the only photographer with the same idea.
I was enchanted by the beauty of this little Begonia. Taken in the Annuals section of the Idea Gardens. Outdoors, tripod.

Not your best photo, Anita. Did you forget to sharpen it a bit?

18 Aug 2008 9:36am

@António Pires: After reading your comment, I sharpened it again, but, I don't see a big difference. Thanks for your comment--I trully value honest feedback. :-)

Anita, there is quite a difference. Sharper, more saturated colours (yellow, in particular), darker background. I'm glad you improved it.

@António Pires: Antonio: I'm a bit puzzled by the big improvement you saw, as I didn't see much improvement on this end. Anyway, I'm so glad you let me know of the problem. :-)

Addendum: may be not more saturation, but more contrast, rather. Excuse me the repetition of previous comment, I sometimes click the wrong button.

I've not been to Longwood gardens and it is not terribly far from me so I should take the trip.

My parents were regulars there.

This is pretty. I love the yellow.

Don't think I've ever seen a yellow begonia.
Lovely!

Another one of your "painterly" displays. The color and play of the delicate petals made me think of the dresses of Civil War-era or Victorian ladies

I like the hue of yellow in this one and your background...
