Rhododendron maximum flower

Posted by
Anita (West Nottingham, Pennsylvania, United States) on 9 July 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Taken last wek at Susquehanock State Park, Pennsylvania, looking down on the flower from above. The side of a wooded hillside dropping down to the Susquehana River was filled with these large, understory, native bushes all in bloom. We walked the aptly names Rhododendron Trail. A photo of a bud is here http://anitabower.aminus3.com/image/2008-07-02.html

Truly gorgeous, Anita. The flowers almost look like frosted glass ... stunning. I ran across this website - http://www.suebishop.co.uk/ - I thought you might enjoy the beautiful flower photography ... I found it (as I do your site) to be inspirational.

I'm gradually coming to understand that the gifted photographer knows when to "blur" and when to go for a super sharp image. Gorgeous.
