Beautiful light and color. Your DOF is perfect. I'm assuming the background is other flowers?

21 Nov 2010 2:10pm

@Julie Brown: Thank you. Yes, the Bg is composed of more of the same Mums. I had to hand-hold the camera, which is unusual for me, because I couldn't get the angle I wanted with the tripod.

GJC from Kyoto (京都), Japan

As you know, the chrysanthemum is a much-beloved flower here in Japan. Even the Emperor uses it for the imperial crest. And because my daughter was born in the fall, her name includes the character for chrysanthemum (菊). They are a beautiful flower, and your presentation here shows why. There is something of stately grace to these wonders. I especially like how (as you always do) you pay attention not just to the flower, but to the background so that it works together as a unified photo. Beautiful!

23 Nov 2010 11:22pm

@GJC: GJC: Thank you for your lovely comment. Your daughter is fortunate to have the character for Chrysanthemum in her name--a constant reminder of beauty.

Ronnie 2¢ from Atlantic Shores, United Kingdom

You have answered my pending question in reply to Julie, above . . the flower looks entirely within its own element - and, now, I know why ! This is such a confident-looking shot and so complete, somehow.

@Ronnie 2¢: Ronnie: I always appreciate your thoughtful comments. Thank you for taking the time.
