A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Stunning closeup. I wonder if placing the focus point so low in the frame doesn't lead the eye out of the picture though. Regardless it is a very nice image.

@Lee: Yes. I agree with you. I almost didn't post it for that reason--cropped (in camera) a bit too close. Thanks for visiting and commenting!

The crop and the point of focus don't bother me at all : I take this as a bold dose of punchy color and one big visual statement. I might have tinkered with the levels a little to make it darker and more of a mystery but, then, some of the smooth gentleness would be lost.

A beautiful petal...I'm glad you went for it.
I really like the abstract quality heightened by your cropping.
My eye stops at the lower right on the tip of the petal,
then slides back up again into the center pf the flower.

Excellent abstract macro, Anita. Two things though. The center seems just a tad bit noisy on my monitor. And I would darken that little triangle in the UR corner.
