Purple and White DahliaPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 11 September 2009 in Plant & Nature. Another Longwood Garden's Dahlia taken several weeks ago. I have been busy and haven't gotten to your blogs lately. I hope the catch up soon. Thanks for visiting! *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Dulcie from Danville, CA, United StatesOh, this Dahlia is just opening her heart to us. You did her great justice, Anita. 11 Sep 2009 5:30am @teckleong: Thank you for visiting and commenting. Frida from SwedenAbsolutely stunning! The colors light and details are great :-) 11 Sep 2009 9:31am Tomas Turecek from Czech RepublicInteresting intensive colours, Anita, and those curled petals are simply wonderful! Unfortunately, I don't know exactly why but I don't find this photo much appealing after all, colours are nice but in this combination it doesn't work for me. I'm also not sure about the composition - there is nothing wrong with it but it's just not working for me. Sorry. Just my opinion. It seems to work for others and that's important. 11 Sep 2009 9:36am Ronnie 2¢ from Atlantic Shores, United KingdomThis is one of those images that begins to go beyond what just reflects light and delves toward the personality of the flower. The sharp edges step aside and the heart starts to show. Moving. 11 Sep 2009 9:50am Monte Stevens from Westerville, United StatesAbsolutely gorgeous! Love the subtle colors and your composition. You have an eye for these shots. I'm a bit envious. 11 Sep 2009 10:49am Sue from Paducah, United StatesI sat back and viewed this on my screen for several minutes; soaking up the beauty of the image. Two things struck me -- the manner in which the colors appeared much like a painting as opposed to a photograph and the rhythm of "Mother Nature." The petals have just enough "syncopation" to create an interesting pattern. 11 Sep 2009 12:46pm Marilla from Turku, FinlandLovely processing! I have pink and white dahlias blooming in my garden just now and I love them. Autumn is here but it looks like summer! 11 Sep 2009 4:52pm Steve from Camdenton, United StatesThis is a great shot showing the beginning stages of the petals and little by little as each petal grows to maturity. Nice Work! 11 Sep 2009 5:10pm Vert Pomme from Montreuil Sous Bois, FranceOn dirait une peinture pour ce dalhia qui s'ouvre. 11 Sep 2009 7:25pm Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United StatesThis is just beautiful Anita.....composition is perfect, and your processing is spot on!!! 11 Sep 2009 10:38pm Betty from Phillipsburg, United StatesNature is incredible... to create something so beautiful. And your photographs showcase that beautiful perfectly. Well done, Anita. 12 Sep 2009 12:14pm Bethany from Michigan, United StatesThis is gorgeous Anita! It almost looks like a painting. Well done! 13 Sep 2009 5:05pm Marcie from Newton, United StatesLove these. They remind me of a mandala. Very spiritual!!! 14 Sep 2009 12:16am Ed Vatza from Lehigh Valley, PA, United StatesI love opening up your images because I never know what to expect. This one created a real "in your face" experience as it open. Very nice. Color and details carry it well. 14 Sep 2009 12:18am John Maslowski from Dallas, PA, United StatesSpectacular composition Anita, the light and tones are fantastic.
