Dahlia OpeningPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 5 August 2009 in People & Portrait. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Dulcie from Danville, United StatesSuch graceful petals and tender colors! It pleases my heart. 5 Aug 2009 6:38am Tomas Turecek from Czech RepublicHmmmmm, this is very nice. I like the centreal sharpness and the softness all around. It's a real pleasure to look at it. Thanks for shaing! 5 Aug 2009 7:28am Marcie from Newton, United StatesLove that you've captured this sweet flower at the 'opening' stage. Gorgeous color!! 5 Aug 2009 11:32am Betty from New Jersey, United StatesSuch beautiful, soft color! Excellent detail in the petals, also. 5 Aug 2009 1:03pm Barbara Kile from Ft. Worth, United StatesLovely colors. I have a dark purple/red dahlia here I'm working on - funny how we often find the same subject! :-) Nicely done. 5 Aug 2009 1:15pm Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesThe processing is really nice. Beautiful work. 5 Aug 2009 2:55pm don from Spokane, United StatesThe colors complement each other very well. I also like the position of the blossom in the frame. Nice composition. A fine shot. 5 Aug 2009 9:05pm Koushiro~光子郎 from Singapore, SingaporeOooh... Lovely~ I wanna see it in full bloom~ 6 Aug 2009 3:26pm David Ross from Bryn Mawr, United StatesI admire the focus and composition. In coming back to this photo several times in the last few days I can't quite convince myself that it is opening as opposed to closing (despite the energy of the sepals). But, I have no suggestions about what additional "cues" I would need. 7 Aug 2009 9:50am @David Ross: I appreciate you comments. I don't know how to make it look like it is opening. I do think the image needs more space on the right side--it feels crowded to me. Ronnie 2¢ from United StatesSo much more powerful in not being fully opened . . love the potential displayed here . . can feel it ! 7 Aug 2009 7:44pm Kerri from Blacksburg, United StatesSuperb! Such a feeling of "new beginnings" with this shot! 10 Aug 2009 1:45pm |
