Taken at Longwood Gardens a few weeks ago. Outdoors, natural light, triipod, macro lens. Topaz filter applied. Some crop.

I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography.

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Very nice "classical" shot. I like your DOF even though I would like to see the centre more in focus. I think that with a tripod it shouldn't be a problem to go to higher f-number. But this is how you wanted it and it's good. What I especially like are those 2 inner petals, one pointing into bottom left corner, second pointing in diagonal to top right corner. Very good image anyway.

@Tomas Turecek: You are right that the image is not as sharp in the middle as I wanted. I don't know why I didn't use a smaller aperture.

Funny, but when I openned this it gave me the feeling of a hollywood pageant musical. Wonderful and vibrant, Anita.

A spectacular blossom shot with those vivid reds. A fine, very detailed close up. Well done.

Really nice image. The petals almost become a landscape.

Really nice photo but I think it perhaps should have been a bit more focus in the middle. It feels a bit soft but on the other hand perhaps that the intention here.
