Red Gerber DaisyPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 3 August 2009 in Plant & Nature. Taken at Longwood Gardens a few weeks ago. Outdoors, natural light, triipod, macro lens. Topaz filter applied. Some crop. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Steve from Camdenton, United StatesSpectacular! VERY nice shot, great color and composition. 3 Aug 2009 5:30am Tomas Turecek from Czech RepublicVery nice "classical" shot. I like your DOF even though I would like to see the centre more in focus. I think that with a tripod it shouldn't be a problem to go to higher f-number. But this is how you wanted it and it's good. What I especially like are those 2 inner petals, one pointing into bottom left corner, second pointing in diagonal to top right corner. Very good image anyway. 3 Aug 2009 9:37am @Tomas Turecek: You are right that the image is not as sharp in the middle as I wanted. I don't know why I didn't use a smaller aperture. Trina from Philadelphia, United StatesOne of my favorite flowers! Love this Anita! 3 Aug 2009 1:01pm Paul Michko from Exton, United StatesFunny, but when I openned this it gave me the feeling of a hollywood pageant musical. Wonderful and vibrant, Anita. 3 Aug 2009 1:42pm Don from spokane, United StatesA spectacular blossom shot with those vivid reds. A fine, very detailed close up. Well done. 3 Aug 2009 2:36pm Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesReally nice image. The petals almost become a landscape. 3 Aug 2009 8:34pm Frida from SwedenReally nice photo but I think it perhaps should have been a bit more focus in the middle. It feels a bit soft but on the other hand perhaps that the intention here. 3 Aug 2009 8:59pm Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United StatesBeautiful shot!!! i wish i could get back to longwood gardens...it's been too long since i was up there!! 4 Aug 2009 12:05am John Maslowski from Dallas, PA, United StatesSpectacular shot Anita, have to say I really love this one. 4 Aug 2009 2:13am mary from exton, United StatesI am thinking I like the filter..
