White Daffodil 1Posted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 30 April 2009 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. I love these late-blooming Daffodils. Taken indoors, natural light, tripod. What to you think of the darker background on my blog? A few words about the EXIF data. My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. Steve from Camdenton, United StatesExcellent macro shot! Nice clean details, great color...I like the white washed out petals fading into the background. I also like the new darker background blog color. 30 Apr 2009 5:39am @Steve: Thank you for your comments! @Moridi: Thanks! jamesy from christchurch, New Zealandabsolutley stunning this is one of my favourite daffodils. I remember from my childhood a lane fo different types and this is one of them 30 Apr 2009 6:37am @jamesy: What fun to remember them from your childhood. This was a new one for me when I planted it. "Marie" :-) from perth, HaitiStunning, beautiful colours. Very good macro.... Love it. 30 Apr 2009 7:06am @"Marie" :-): Thanks! Betty from New Jersey, United StatesBeautiful macro. Fantastic color, Anita. 30 Apr 2009 10:03am @Betty: Thanks for your feedback! edvatza from LEHIGH VALLEY, PA, United StatesThe blog background looks fine but then you know my preference for darker backgrounds. Which brings me to your photo. The center of the daffodil is stunningly beautiful. And the white petals are fine. But to my eyes, they start to get lost in the white background. You know I'm not fond of white backgrounds. There doesn't seem to be enough contrast around the edges to keep the petals from getting lost in the background in spots. It's strange, as I look up at the thumbnail on the "add your comment" page, the petals seem to stand out more than they do for me with the large image. 30 Apr 2009 10:15am @edvatza: Thanks for your comments. I'm experimenting with the white BG as I've seen some stunning flower images with white BGs. Elora from Genoa, ItalyI like how you have that shot of colour in the corner of an all white photo. I think it's a great shot! 30 Apr 2009 11:00am @Elora: I'm glad you like it. @Ravi: Thank you so very much. Paul Michko from Exton, PA, United StatesI love all the toning you got with a white petal background. So sharp and beautiful, Anita. 30 Apr 2009 11:48am @Paul Michko: Thanks! Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesFantastic spring colors. Wonderful shot. I like the background too. 30 Apr 2009 11:58am @Chris Parr: Thanks. The white BG is an experiment in process. @mo.langel: Thanks! António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalI like this one, the sharp patch of colour on a mainly white background. 30 Apr 2009 1:08pm @António Pires: Thanks for you comment, and for the feedback on the blog color. @Onlymehdi: Thank you! @Heather: Thank you. Susan from Fort Lauderdale, FL, United StatesOk, i like what you did here, but I think I agree with edvatza that the white background of the shot, kind makes you lose the detail on the petals.....maybe if the background was a very pale yellow, or cream, just enough contrast to make the petals stand out. 30 Apr 2009 3:11pm @Susan: I always welcome comments and constructive critiques, such as yours. They help me grow and improve. I think white on white is particularly difficult to pull off. manel from Girona, SpainMuy buena composición.
