Blue Cohosh

Posted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 16 April 2009 in Plant & Nature.

We think this is Blue Cohosh, a spring wildflower. The flowers are about 1/2' across. The leaves are just unfurling. Taken one week ago at Ferncliff Wildflower Preserve, Pennsylvania, USA. I have a lighter version, but I like the darker one.

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

The tones and details are marvelous. I like the richness of the colors and the background. As I said Tueday night yellows tend to blow out easily, but you did a great job of keeping the brightness without blowing out the bright yellows. Excellent work, Anita.
