Striped Crocus

I love the stripes on this Crocus and the curve of the lower right petal. I'm experimenting with white backgrounds. I think this one tends a bit towards blue. Crocus from my garden.

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Saw this on the forum, Anita. My seeming aversion to white backgrounds notwithstanding, this is simply a beautiful image. I love the color combination in the Crocus petals and I do like the way the white in the petals still stand out from the background. In some respects, it creates an almost abstract feel. Excellent!

The white background matches the white of the crocus. The lower right petal balances the composition. Exquisite, over all.

This is like an artist's rendering of the perfect crocus . . such fine detail against the white background. I'm not sure about the box around, though, as it tends to restrict the wonderful freedom of the flower.

What a creative image! The processing is great, but I really love how the one petal is "scooping the air." That element makes this image that much more special to me. Nicely done!
