White CrocusPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 25 March 2009 in Plant & Nature. I find Crocus challenging to photograph outdoors due to how short they are and the dead leaves and grasses surrounding them. So, I cut some and brought them indoors, arranging them in a shallow bowl using a floral frog. I used a sheet of colored paper for BG. To see set up, go to flickr. To my surprise and pleasure, this arrangemetn still looks good several days later. Three of my photos are being shown at the Oxford Arts Alliance Gallery and two at Eagle Gallery. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

The crocus look especially fresh, clean and pure when arranged and photographed in this "studio" environment. 25 Mar 2009 11:49am marie from perth, AustraliaHi Anita, firstly congratulations on your success with your photos being shown, great success. I love this photo, you have made those crocus's look so magnificent. Beautiful arrangement, great work. Love it. 25 Mar 2009 1:10pm john4jack from Corvallis, United StatesYou cheated! I spent an incredible amount of time recently trying to get around bark in the background; even completely out of focus, it spoiled the shot. What finally worked in another spot was using a flash, as suggested by Jerry. Your shot is just exquisite! As the spring flowers burst forth, I have a lot of pointers and insights that I have picked up from you that I hope to put to use. You are one of my big time mentors in my favorite kind of photography. 25 Mar 2009 1:15pm @john4jack: Why thank you, Jack! I'm delighted that something I have done is helpful to you. I got the idea from the image of another photographer [Dawn LeBlanc, though I don't know what method she actually used. Although I have never seen Crocus in a vase, I wondered if the would last, so tried it, and they did! Monte Stevens from Westerville, United StatesLove the colors. And, you are correct about getting down low to photograph these beauties. I can get some strange looks from "strangers." Well done! 25 Mar 2009 1:17pm Jen from Alpharetta, United StatesLovely Lovely shot...thanks for going to all the trouble to share them! 25 Mar 2009 3:22pm jamesy from christchurch, New Zealandbeautiful anita I love the colour of the background.
