Pink OrchidPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 27 February 2009 in Plant & Nature. I took this picture this afternoon at the Longwood Gardens Conservatory, which is having an Orchid extravaganza. I find Orchids in a conservatory difficult to photograph, so worked on getting in closer. This is the first time I've used my camera (except for a couple of snapshots) in 4 weeks, the longest I've done so in the last year and a half. First I was sick, then I was visiting my sister. I was thrilled to finally get out and do some shooting! You are invited to the opening reception of the Oxford Arts Alliance Photographic Invitational Show, which includes three of my photographs, Friday March 6, 2009 5-8pm), 38 S. 3rd St., Oxford, PA 19363. www.oxfordart.org. See About, below for more information. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Jen from St. George, United StatesStunning! The colors are great, and the gentle curving lines, very inviting. 27 Feb 2009 5:11am Arnd from Basel, SwitzerlandThe colored marks on the orchid’s lip looks like a secret message in a long forgotten language. Nice capture with stunning details. 27 Feb 2009 9:29am Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomThis is like a little artwork with all those shapes and curves and, as Arnd says, the hieroglyphics look to be saying something real important ! 27 Feb 2009 9:52am Paul Michko from Exton, PA, United StatesWOW!!! This image gives the eye so much to absorb and process! 2 Mar 2009 12:11am |
