White CyclamenPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 15 January 2009 in Plant & Nature. I accidentally failed to post an image yesterday. I'm trying to post every-other day. Taken indoors, near a window, using natural light, tripod, 100mm macro lens. For a version without the leaf, see flickr I have 6 Cyclamen plants in different colors that help keep me smiling all winter. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesYou did a wonderful job capturing the delicacy of the petals. Beautiful shot! 15 Jan 2009 5:30am Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesThe white is so pure and beautiful. Lovely shot! 15 Jan 2009 6:29am António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalI don't like the shape of the leaf. Let me be clear, this is a good photo in general. But I take as reference your standard, that you put so high, so this photo doesn't reach your standard. 15 Jan 2009 11:34am @António Pires: You can see a version without the leaf at: flickr Ronnie 2¢ from London, United Kingdomyup, I guess António is right but I still like the image because it is so delicate and reminds me of my cyclamen which seen to have joyful flowers all thru the year ! 15 Jan 2009 1:55pm Charles from New York, United StatesBeautiful shot. I love the background and the angle of the flower. 16 Jan 2009 12:23am David R. Ross from Bryn Mawr, PA, United StatesGiven the resolution on my screen, each time this photo comes up, I just see the bloom, which is glorious. I love the creamy undulations, the sharp edge, the dramatic contrast between black and white. So, I agree with Antonio and Ronnie. Would you consider cropping it -- that's the image I've been seeing and enjoying all week. 19 Jan 2009 9:00am @David R. Ross: David: I have created a new image of this flower without the leaf. You can see it at flickr What do you think? António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalThe image at flickr without the leaf is definitely better. 19 Jan 2009 6:59pm |
