Little White FlowersPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 4 January 2009 in Plant & Nature. Taken at Longwood Gardens Conservatory a week ago. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

A treat for the eyes with all the gray lately! 4 Jan 2009 10:47am @Betty: Betty: Anita Sue from Paducah, United StatesI noticed your comment about wishing the centers were a little sharper. I like the image just as it is. There is a graceful softness about the image that evokes a peaceful, soothing mood. 4 Jan 2009 10:50am @Sue: Thank you, Sue, for your thoughts on this image. @António Pires: Thanks for the comment! Yes, I did use a tripod. When I started out with digital photography, I hated using tripods. Now, I almost never take a picture without one! Marcie from United StatesA sight for eyes that are quickly growing tired of endless snow!!! Simply beautiful!!!! 4 Jan 2009 11:52am @Kerri: Thanks. Indeed--I, too, am longing for spring. I've started compiling my list of plants to put in this year. john4jack from Corvallis, United StatesLovely. Wonderful composition. Very much like a painting. 4 Jan 2009 1:33pm Chris from South Jersey, United StatesI really like the composition, the shape formed by the flowers is very interesting (almost looks like a 7).... 4 Jan 2009 2:03pm @Chris: Thanks, Chris. Frida from SwedenBeautiful sight for sore eyes :-) I cant wait for spring and summer. 4 Jan 2009 10:57pm @Frida: It seems we all are eager for spring! (except those in the southern hemisphere.) Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesThose are so beautiful. This is a gorgeous shot. Love the composition. 5 Jan 2009 5:53am @Laurie: Thank you, Laurie! Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomI agree with Sue that this image of such gentle flowers benefits from the softness. A fine addition to your Longwood portfolio. 5 Jan 2009 5:00pm David R. Ross from United StatesSo, it's a great composition (I also love the "7"); you've succeeded in conveying an overall softness; I enjoy the three dimensional feel, the sense of my eye being drawn into the depths behind; the petals are sharp and distinct; it's a striking photo. Is it possible to achieve all that and also get the effect you want with the centers? Perhaps the tech folk out there can tell us. Or maybe that just wasn't to be for this opportunity. Until you find it, this one works very nicely for me. 7 Jan 2009 5:03pm Kathryn from Warburton, Australiais see a questionmark actually! haha. This is such a strong image due to its composition and rich tones! very nice! 9 Jan 2009 10:27pm |
