Lily BudPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 2 January 2009 in Plant & Nature. Taken at Longwood Gardens Conservatory, Pennsylvania, USA last weekend. My goal was to get flower images with colorful backgrounds. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

@Lídia: Thank you! António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalMay be the answer is in the position of the cloned leaves. A little bit lower wouldn't be better? 2 Jan 2009 10:36am @António Pires: Thank you. I couldn't avoid the location of these leaves and also get the clean background. I'm still torn between the two images. Susanne from Västerås, SwedenLove the colours, the shape and the flower. Well done! 2 Jan 2009 12:04pm @Susanne: Thank you, Susanne. Frida from SwedenIt's a beautiful picture but if I have to choose I think I like the one on flickr a bit more. Well captured! 2 Jan 2009 12:33pm Sue from Paducah, United StatesTypically I prefer to leave images as close to natural as possible; however, I must admit I like the image on Flickr with the extra leaves cloned out. Beautiful color in the blurred background which provides the perfect contrast for the beautiful flower. 2 Jan 2009 1:52pm john4jack from Corvallis, United StatesGorgeous photograph. Dynamite background. Superb composition. 2 Jan 2009 3:54pm Jen from United StatesI like this one better. The extra leaves add depth and frame the bud. That being said, either way, it's a beautiful image! 3 Jan 2009 12:21am @Jen: Interesting that some of us like it with the extra leaves, and some without. I agree with your assessment, I think that is why I have a mild preference for this one. Thanks for sharing your views. Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesI like this one best. The bokeh is gorgeous here. 3 Jan 2009 5:48am Marcie from United StatesStunning simplicity. Love the colors of the background blurr. 3 Jan 2009 9:39am Mary from PA, United StatesGorgeous!! I like this one... with the leaves. Beautiful sharpness and detail of the lily. 3 Jan 2009 1:21pm Kerri from Blacksburg, United StatesBoth images are beautiful! I think I like this just a tiny bit better. I think it is almost a tie for me. 4 Jan 2009 12:11pm Lorie from United StatesGorgeous colors - love the composition. Happy New Year!
