White Christmas RosePosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 19 December 2008 in People & Portrait. Taken Wednesday at Longwood Garden Conservatory (indoors), natural light, tripod. I'm experimenting with using f32, which I rarely use. I welcome critiques. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Betty from New Jersey, United StatesSo delicate, Anita. I really like the background, which makes the flower pop. Excellent details. 19 Dec 2008 6:00am António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalI like the colours but even at this size it seems that the flower isn't so sharp as others you already photographed. 19 Dec 2008 10:04am @António Pires: Thanks. I agree about the sharpness, which I find perplexing since I used f32. Koushiro~光子郎 from Singapore, SingaporeWow... So white... The colours are amazing as always! The natural light does in fact do wonders to the composition too! 19 Dec 2008 12:25pm jamesy from christchurch, New ZealandSo beautiful Anita I don't think that I have ever seen such a startling white winter rose. they are normally tinged with green 19 Dec 2008 8:26pm Mary from PA, United StatesVery Pretty Anita. It's so white!! wonderful capture! 19 Dec 2008 10:08pm jim from sebastopol, United Statesthis is lovely beyond words Anita. your photoblog is stunning, you are very skillful and a true inspiration. jim 20 Dec 2008 3:48am @jim: Thank you for your kind words! Sue from United StatesI admire you experimenting with f32. Like you, I rarely use it because I typically try to get smooth bokeh in the background. In this particular image the uniform deep green of the background was effective for using your aperture choice. 20 Dec 2008 8:22am Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomWhat a sweet little world this reveals . . I guess the 1/2 second does give scope for slight trembles (in the flower if not in the tripod) 21 Dec 2008 12:18am @Ronnie 2¢: That could be. I am challenged to balance f stop, ISO, shutter speed with breezes and wanting a blurred or not distracting backgrouond. Don Wiley from spokane, United StatesA fine flower shot which is very welcome in our dead-of-winter season right now! 21 Dec 2008 8:26pm |
