CalendulaPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 14 December 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. To my surprise, this Calendula was still blooming in my garden the second week of November, here in chilly Pennsylvania, USA. I brought it in and photographed it using window light. In post processing, I added some vignetting. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Barbara from Florida, United StatesAmazing and vibrant image. Incredible it was blooming in November there. This would make a beautiful large poster or greeting card. 14 Dec 2008 5:32am Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesIt is very pretty and has such a sunny mood on a cold night here. Just beautiful. 14 Dec 2008 5:57am António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalInteresting idea to have a bright BG. The vignetting, too. It seems that the flower is radiating light. 14 Dec 2008 10:35am Koushiro~光子郎 from Singapore, SingaporeA sunny composition! Nice to see your flowers are braving the weather XD 14 Dec 2008 11:52am Sue from United StatesLike the others, I love the bright, cheerful, sunny yellow. I also enjoy the bend in the stem; thinking it makes for a graceful composition. The subtle vignette is perfect! 14 Dec 2008 2:23pm @manel: Gracias, Manuel! Arnd from SwitzerlandBeautiful choice of color hues and fascinating artistic processing. Excellent! 14 Dec 2008 9:49pm @Arnd: Thank you! @Lasiate: Thank you! @Charles: Thank you! Doug from Long Beach, United StatesI really like the flower, but I do find myself thinking that the similar hues of the flower and the background don't create as much interesting contrast as a different color might. 15 Dec 2008 4:45am @Doug: Thanks for visiting and commenting, Doug. I think you make a good point about the background color. Paul Michko from United StatesDelightfully bright and inspiring for a Monday morning view. Excellet clarity and composition, Anita. 15 Dec 2008 11:18am Paul Michko from United StatesI must comment again. I just looked at this even more closely. Anita, this is absolutlely incredible, the detail the dynamic clarity. It all just pops off the screen. I can see it hanging as a centerpiece on a gallery wall. I give this one a standing ovasion. 15 Dec 2008 11:22am |
