I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography.

If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know!

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

You have isolated two graceful and beautiful ladies in this image. Snow? Already? Well, the positive side is it gives us some fresh, new photographic subjects (and challenges!). :)

Nice DOF and composition! I wonder though if you could have improved the sharpness by probably trying out a slight higher f number. The compromise would be the deeper DOF, but you would have been able to capture more detail in the subject itself!

23 Nov 2008 2:10pm

@Kaneabel: Thank you. I agree with your suggestion that a deeper dof would have allowed the dry flowers to be more fully in focus, and still have the blurred background. I'm not sure why I didn't do that. Also, better focusing would have helped. I appreciate your suggestion!!

I see exuberant attendants rushing in to serve up delectable early season snow-cones to all of your guests! I can almost grab the one from the leader's left "hand."
