DahliaPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 24 September 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. I love the curls in the center of this Dahlia. This is one growing in my garden. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Striking clarity and wonderful composition, Anita. 24 Sep 2008 10:32am Sue from United StatesThe first thing that caught my eye was the curls. Must have caught everyone else's too! :) Marcie said it best! 24 Sep 2008 1:23pm jamesy from christchurch, New ZealandBeautiufl Anita I have never seen a dahlia with curly petals before 25 Sep 2008 1:13am @jamesy: I don't think they are supposed to curl. At a Dahlia Society show I went to on Sunday, there were no curling petals like these. But I have seen them curl on this particular type of Dahlia, not only in my garden. Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomOh, there you go again with those curls . . wonderful !! 25 Sep 2008 9:14pm susan from Belleville, United StatesSo pretty! The colors and tones are awesome. Excellent framing too. Absolutely a great composition. 26 Sep 2008 1:50am David Ross from Bryn Mawr, PA, United StatesTrying to be specific: Great choice to center the flower in lower right and take it from this angle. It's easy to overlook the contribution of the background shading. I had to really stare to realize that the back-most petals are starting the blur, the sharpness of the curls "convinces" the viewer that the the entire flower is sharp. Lucious! 26 Sep 2008 4:00pm Monique from NetherlandsVery pretty! Love the curls and the colours, 29 Sep 2008 11:19am |
