Sultana Imaptiens 2Posted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 21 August 2008 in Plant & Nature. Taken at Longwood Gardeens, Pennsylvania, USA, outdoors, tripod, macro lens. *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Ed Heaton from United StatesWonderfully done Anita! I love the softness and mood of this images. 21 Aug 2008 11:37am Chris from South Jersey, United StatesBeautiful - so soft and delicate. It almost looks like a sheet of silk. Really nice image - I must get a macro lens and good portable tripod to see if I can copy you..... 21 Aug 2008 8:16pm @Chris: Thank you! Copying is a great form of flattery. :-) Betsy Barron from Glenmoore, United Statesanita - your images get better and better each day - you have such a terrific eye for these soft and lovely flowers - truly beautiful, and I'm not even a flower photography person!!! 21 Aug 2008 8:57pm @Betsy Barron: Betsy: Thank you so much. I value your opinion! I do think I'm slowly improving. If you have any suggestions for next steps or what I might work on, I would welcome them. :-) Mary from Aberdeenshire, United KingdomWhoops sorry i have referred to your flower as a rose 21 Aug 2008 9:38pm @Mary: It is an error I'm glad you made! Because: when I got in close, the Impatiens looked to me like a rose!! Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomMary has saved me from the same error . . this really is an all-embracing image . . one is totally immersed in that wonderful (rose) color ! 21 Aug 2008 9:47pm @Ronnie 2¢: It would have been a fine error to make, as, when I looked through my macro lens, the flower looked like a rose to me, and that is why I took the picture. Monte Stevens from Fort Collins, United StatesAnother good one! It's sharp where it needs to be and blurry where it needs to be. Well done, again! 21 Aug 2008 11:48pm GJC from Kyoto, JapanWhat I like about this -- and so many of your shots -- is the sensitivity to color. The way you use composition to highlight color is really fine, making your works often blend the border between realism and abstraction. 22 Aug 2008 2:15am @GJC: Thank you for your thoughtful and specific comments. They are much appreciated and help me better understand what I am doing. :-) Paul Michko from Exton, PA, United StatesVery delicate and pleasing macro image, Anita 22 Aug 2008 10:20am David Ross from United StatesThese Sultanas are so different from the varieties one sees in most gardens around here. I immediately resonated with the sharp, but delicate curves and the rich variation in color here. It took my reading the comments and then looking again to fully appreciate the Sultana Impatiens of two days back. Comments help one grow both as a photographer, but also as a viewer of the work of others. 22 Aug 2008 7:56pm |
