White Flowers

Taken in the Village Green Memorial Garden, Sunset, Maine. I don't know the name of these flowers.

I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography.

If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know!

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

A most impresive capture of these little beauties, Anita.

Even without a name they are beautiful! So delicate, soft and small and you've captured the color very well with a great DOF.

This shot strikes me as being very poetic. The soft appeal is very strong.
A very effective image.

I love the colors and DoF that you used, but the edges look kind of sharp for me (not sure if you sharpened in Photoshop or not).

7 Aug 2008 8:23pm

@Chris: Hi, Chris. Thanks for your observation. I did sharpen it, a lot. Maybe too much? I sharpen all my photos, and am experimenting with it--I haven't come to a happy solution yet.

Beautiful green & white blend, it's a lovely image using good dof.

Your sharpening gives the photo the effect I like best -- the sense of layering, of the one flower layered on top of the other. It's only the flower at the top center where the edge seems artificial.
