Nodding Thistle (Carduus nutans)Posted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 23 July 2008 in Plant & Nature. THANK YOU to all for the numerous, positive comments on my last photo. :-) *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Monique from Koh Samui, ThailandWe both have fireworks today! :) Great capture, lovely colours and sharpness! 23 Jul 2008 5:25am Erik from Amersfoort, NetherlandsGreat work ! very nice sparkling colors indeed. 23 Jul 2008 6:04am Kent from SwedenA beautiful and colorful thistle. Certainly, it is weeds, but it can be beautiful for it. We have similar plants with us, too. 23 Jul 2008 6:25am Paul Michko from Exton, PA, United StatesGorgeous capture, Anita. I don't see any star rating. Am I missing something? 23 Jul 2008 10:19am António Pires from Lisbon, PortugalWe have to be very careful with some invasive species. Out of their native habitat they may proliferate uncontrollably. 23 Jul 2008 10:24am Koushiro~光子郎 from Singapore, SingaporeHaha I can definitely see why Monique calls the flower fireworks! Great colours and detail there! 23 Jul 2008 12:38pm don from spokane, United StatesIt may be a noxious weed, but it must be one of the more beautiful ones! I like how you show it on a velvety black background. Fine image today! 23 Jul 2008 2:02pm Sergei Z from Turi, EstoniaBeautiful shot! The background is just perfect - it helps to focus only on the main subject. 23 Jul 2008 9:48pm @Sergei Z: Thank you for visiting! I'm glad you like it. Betty from New Jersey, United StatesAn amazing bloom, and you photographed it beautifully. Well done! 24 Jul 2008 12:25am John Maslowski from Dallas, PA, United StatesI'm amazed at the number and variety of flowers you photograph Anita. Another beautiful composition, very nice work! 24 Jul 2008 1:59am Eric Fry from Houston, TX, United StatesGreat flower macros over the past few days, Anita, but I really like this one. We have purple thistle here, but they don't make these incredible tendrils like this one. Thanks for posting these! 24 Jul 2008 12:04pm @Eric Fry: Eric: First: Thanks for your supportive comments. Second: I didn't notice the white tendrils until I saw the photo on my monitor! Your thistles may hae them also! |
