Venus' Looking-glass

Posted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 29 June 2008 in Plant & Nature.

Photo taken in meadow behind my house. Native wildflower.
I first noticed this little flower after Earnest <http://xminus3.aminus3.com/image/2008-06-27.html>
posted a photo of it. Thanks, Earnest.

*****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!*****

I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography.

If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know!

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

@Kerri: Thanks!

Beautiful purple against the green! Well done, Anita.

@Betty: Thanks, Betty. You might have these little flowers over your way, in meadows.

Chris from South Jersey, United States

so very delicate - wonderfully captured....

@Chris: Thanks, Chris. They are small flowers that one would walk right past as they are hidden among the taller grasses and don't look like much at first glance.

That's a beautiful shot... I really envy your having that Konica - or maybe it's your expertise I envy... :-)) Either way I'm glad you noticed these and I look forward to seeing many more of your local wildflowers!!

@Earnest: Glad you like it. I do enjoy having a 35 mm camera. The negatives are that it is bulkier and heavier to carry, and I need to take along a tripod.

Eric Fry from Houston, TX, United States

That is a great photo. Perfect focus and Dof, and stunning composition. I'm with Earnest, can't wait to see more of your gorgeous photos.

I so admire how you manage to retain the natural tones and lighting in these. I can see the flower and still feel the meadow.

A fabulous image, the combination of lens and aperture creates a terrific dof.

Thanks for you comments , and Molly said thanks too.... ;)

Lovely. I particularly like the sharpness of detail and, as usual, how you create washes of color by effectively using DOF.
