Maple-Leaved Viburnum (Viburnum acerifolium)

Posted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 6 June 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Taken at Ferncliff Wildflower Preserve, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA, last week. This is an understory shrub, the flower was a bit above eye-level. The spring wildflowers have vanished.

I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography.

If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know!

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Lovely soft colors. The dof and selective focus here works really well. Love the clarity of the petals in the foreground.

Marcie identified why I found myself charmed by this photo -- the soft effect you achieved with the colors and the transition in the focus. It really does justice to the way these flowers impress in the woods.
