I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography.

If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know!

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

So simple, so beautiful!

@Monte Stevens: Thank you, Monte.

I love the composition in this one - the strong diagonal and the unusual look at the backside of a flower. I don't know if it is my monitor or not, but there appears to be a slight mark to the right of the bottom flower right at the edge.

@Chris: Thanks Chris. I got rid of the mark. Dont' know what it was. I wanted to put a frame around it, but gave up without putting in much effor. Glad you like it!

This thumbnail stood out on the daily images page and it was certainly worth a visit. Great shots, but it's going to be difficult to beat the white peony!

@dobbino: Thank you for visiting! I'm glad you like my photos.

David Ross from Bryn Mawr, United States

I'm enjoying your experimenting with the new background. Elements that particularly pleased me: including the top of the vase; simplifying to two bold diagonals; the clever way you give the sense of seeing a 360 degree image of the flower.

Terrific composition. Like the two pink flowers a few days earlier, you do a wonderful job of putting these flowers in communication together. Like David Ross, I agree that including the vase was a very good idea, as it anchors the photo and allows for the ranginess of the flowers to be even more accentuated.

@GJC: Thanks. I liked the gracefulness of the long stems. They twisted as the flowers reached for the window light.

Nigel Clack from United Kingdom

I like the simple composition and that you can see both sides of the flower.

@Nigel Clack: Thank you, Nigel. I liked that aspect also.
