Buttercup

Posted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 16 May 2008 in Plant & Nature.

My husband is kind enouogh not to mow the areas where Buttercups are blooming.

I THANK all who commented on my recent photos. :-)

*****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!*****

I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography.

If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know!

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Marcie from United States

Such a beautiful yellow buttercup...set on the dark green.

@Marcie: Thanks. I like the contrast also.

Earnest from Oklahoma, United States

Very pretty, Anita. The subject is sharp and the background perfect... I too have a dilemma in mowing my "lawn" sometimes...

16 May 2008 12:07pm

@Earnest: We keep reducing the size of our lawn. This year we are letting parts of the back lawn grow tall in areas away from the house where I tend to throw dry seedheads. In past years we were not able to to this as my son was in charge of mowing, but, since he is off to college, we can do as we want. :-)

Betty from New Jersey, United States

The buttercup really stands out against the background, very well done.

@Betty: Thank you, Betty. Yesterday I received the new macro lens I ordered from B&H: a Minolta f2.8 100mm Macro, and immediately went outside to take photos. I'm so excited!

Ron from Saint Louis, United States

That new lens paid for itself with this one shot! A beautiful composition, Anita, and the bokeh is like a dreamscape...

16 May 2008 1:54pm

@Ron: Thank you, Ron. You are correct about the bokeh--that and the narrow depth of field were the first things I noticed. However, it will take way more than one photo for this lens to "pay for itself." :-)

Paul Michko from Exton, PA, United States

Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around.

Sorry couldn't resist. :) Terrific macro image, Anita

@Paul Michko: Thanks, Paul.

Arash from Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Nice composition and great focous inside.

16 May 2008 4:12pm

@Arash: Thank you. One reason I take photos is to see inside little flowers I don't otherwise see.

malahat from Iran

focus and color is ok with good composition

@malahat: Thank you!

standley from brou-sur-chantereine, France

Simply wonderful! It seems floating in mid-air.

16 May 2008 7:53pm

@standley: Thanks. I noticed that--not sure if I like it or not.

Alun Lambert from cheshire, United Kingdom
