John's Hill on a Misty Morning

Posted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 14 April 2008 in Landscape & Rural.

Kirk Farm with Lee's Bridge Road running through it. The Sycamore is doomed because a new bridge will be built over Black Run. I am fortunate enough to drive this road every day!

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Beautiful! Funny that we'd both post on a somewhat related theme on the same day. I love the rich colors and lovely, soft light. You are indeed lucky to drive this every day, though I'm sad about that tree. Sycamores are really magnificent trees, and this one picks up the light beautifully. Thanks for sharing.

A beautiful view - I love the rolling hills and roads of SE Pennsylvania. What a shame to lose a wonderful tree...
You captured this scene wonderfully - the colors are just great.

You're very lucky to have this drive, the landscape looks very much like here in Cheshire UK. Good image.

It does look like a wonderful drive. Trees have their own art and blend it well with it's suroundings creating a large work of art. Man wants to tear it down? Well done, Anita!

A gorgeous scene, Anita. Your composition really pulls you into this shot. Wonderful sense of depth and movement. The road pulls you along as you scan and investigate the entire image. It is such a shame about the tree. It will change this scene forever. I'm so glad you could capture the magic that it creates.

Without knowing where this is, I immediately thought of PA. It reminds me of the scenery down around Lebanon County. Beautiful capture!

15 Apr 2008 11:15pm

@Cyberpsycho: It is PA, and it is southeast of Lebanon County, in southwest Chester County, near the Lancaster County and Maryland State borders. The Kirks are "English" farmers, but, at the top of the hill there are 2 Amish farms.
