Aloe FlowersPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 6 April 2008 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio. Another Longwood Conservatory flower: some type of Aloe. THANK YOU FOR VISITING!!! *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Chris from South Jersey, United StatesGreat colors and perfect composition. You really get your money's worth out of the price of admission to Longwood, don't you? How many pictures do you take in one day there (I got to Winterthur yesterday and took about 150 shots)? 6 Apr 2008 12:11pm @Chris: I took 200 photos in 3 hours last week at Longwood. I didn't realize it was so many until I checked to answer your question. I take several shots of the same composition at different f stopsfrom 3.2 to 22 as a way to learn what works best, and also, to get one good shot. I'm teaching myself macro. I look forward to seeing some of the photos you took at Winterthur. Spring is a fabulous time to visit there. GJC from Kyoto, JapanSuperb composition and very impressive use of background color to highlight the aloe. I really like this. 6 Apr 2008 1:02pm Mike from Chester, United KingdomSuper image, looks tropical. Nice diffused lighting. 6 Apr 2008 2:20pm @Mike: Thanks. When I click on your name, I'm not taken to your blog. Why is that? standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceWonderful! The colours are enhanced by the dark background. 6 Apr 2008 8:10pm Melissa W. from Warsaw, Indiana, United StatesWonderful composition. Great contrast. This looks like a painting. Beautiful work. :) 6 Apr 2008 9:00pm John Maslowski from Dallas,PA, United StatesLovely shot, Anita. Beautiful colors and great focus here. Like the off center composition. Very nice image. 6 Apr 2008 10:52pm Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesA beautiful image, Anita. The DOF is perfect ... soft and creamy! I spent the afternoon at the Missouri Botanical Garden yesterday. Shot 500 pics in about 2.5 hours. When shooting outdoors you have to shoot a lot to get the real winners ... and this shot of yours is a gold medalist! 6 Apr 2008 11:30pm @Ron: Thanks. I look forward to seeing some of those 500 photos! |
