Beech LeafPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 19 March 2008 in Plant & Nature. I love leaves, as some of you know. Beeches hold some of their leaves all winter. By the end of winter, these leaves are paper thin and pale, but they still provide a touch of color to the bleak woods. ++I AM SO GLAD YOU VISITED MY SITE. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. Betty from New Jersey, United StatesNice composition, Anita. I've noticed that there were a lot more leaves still around this winter! It was nice color during the little bit of snow we did get. Right now I'm really tired of the brown! 19 Mar 2008 10:04am @Betty: Me too! Kerri from Blacksburg, United StatesThe beauty of Winter! Captured PERFECTLY in this shot! So crisp and clear! 19 Mar 2008 12:33pm @Kerri: Thank you so much! Chris from South Jersey, United StatesGreat composition and wonderful detail that you captured in this photo. I can really see how delicate this leaf is!! A great image... 19 Mar 2008 2:20pm Ronnie 2¢ from United KingdomEvery leaf like this is a tiny work of art just waiting to be explored and admired. Lovely shot. 19 Mar 2008 6:09pm @Pavla: Thank you for visiting and commenting. Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesIncredible DOF, Anita. The beauty of that leaf against that background…stunning! 19 Mar 2008 9:26pm @Ron: Thank you so much! GJC from Kyoto, JapanI agree with everyone here. But let me add that what I find particularly striking is how you use the branches to frame the shot so effectively. I love the horizontal branches surround the leaf at top and bottom -- they give the image a feeling of movement to the right, and relieves the vertical elements created by the solitary leaf. Really well composed. 19 Mar 2008 9:53pm @GJC: Thank you for your always specific and encouraging comments! :-) standley from brou-sur-chantereine, FranceBeautiful composition. Great details and tones! 19 Mar 2008 10:47pm Melissa from Warsaw, Indiana, United StatesStunning. The colors and tones are exquisite. I too love how the leaf is framed by the branches. This group was particularly thoughtful and informative. I learned a lot -- nodding in recognition at some, seeing new things in the photo as a result of others. It's a bit like sitting in on a colloquium. 5 Apr 2008 10:04pm |
