Winter Aconite

Winter Aconite partly open. About the size of a large marble. A group of these flowers are a welcome splash of color in early spring.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR VISITING. CONTRUCTIVE CRITIQUE WELCOME.

I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography.

If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know!

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Beautiful flower - I don't know if I have seen them before. You capture the detail very well in flowers - well done.

So crisp! Love it - my only suggestion would be to fill flash it just a bit to bring out that bright gorgeous yellow!

@Betsy Barron : www.thebetsy.com: I hate using flash, but I will try bringing out more color using photoshop. I often am unsure how light and bright to make my photos. Thanks!

Excellent close-up shot and perfect DOF. Nice warm colors and like the way you composed this image.

Excellent shot! Wonderful DOF and the flower is perfectly sharp.

@Betty: Thank you. I am working on getting my macros sharp.

I find a single flower of Aconite less interesting, less beautiful, than your usual choice in macros -- but I enjoy the way you have framed it with the petals in this shot. The group shot that follows pleased me more. Is there something you particularly wanted to capture in a single flower?
