Stormy EveningPosted by Anita (West Nottingham, United States) on 11 March 2008 in Landscape & Rural. We had fabulous winds and rains on Saturday. Falling tree branches downed power lines, leaving us without electricity (including no heat or water) for 16 hours. This is a view from my backyard. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR VISITING :-) *****THANK YOU FOR VISITING ANITA'S PHOTOBLOG!***** I welcome your honest critique, especially if they will improve my photography. If I have made a mistake in a flower identification, please let me know! A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

Marek Kulikowski from Ostroleka, PolandMelancholia i sztormowa pogoda... 11 Mar 2008 12:42pm @Marek Kulikowski: Thank you! I used an on-line polish-english dictionary to translate your comment! GJC from Kyoto, JapanYou are very fortunate to have something so beautiful to see. The composition here is terrific -- the right bounded by the copse coming to the top of the frame, then a gentle slide ending in the lower trees on the left, all knit together by the trees in the back and that lovely, hidden building. Your images are composed in such a way as to emphasize the natural, gentle contours of the landscape, which means the images are working with the landscape to effectively convey your idea. Another lovely shot. 11 Mar 2008 1:27pm @GJC: I appreciate your careful analysis of my photo! It helps me see what works. Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesA beautifully composed shot (maybe just a wee-bit more foreground). I love the light in the sky and the way the center of interest is fully surrounded by the trees. Your part of the world is truly beautiful with its rolling hills and lush fields. 11 Mar 2008 1:30pm @Ron: Thank you. I had more foreground, but cropped it out because it contained a large flower bed that at this time of year is just brown dirt. Chris from South Jersey, United StatesWonderful image - I love the composition and colors. I took some photos as well during that stormy Saturday as the clouds started to clear (will post next week maybe). The view from your yard is great - how great that you have such a good subject just steps away! The one drawback of living in the country is the power problem - we didn't lose power Saturday but lost it last Wednesday morning (2am-10am) - no water for shower!! 11 Mar 2008 1:39pm @Chris: Thanks. I look forward to seeing your storm photos. Next time I'm going to get out and take more photos. Kerri from Blacksburg, United StatesSorry you had such bad weather! What a beautiful view from your backyard! Wow! 11 Mar 2008 4:53pm @Kerri: Thanks, Kerri. The lack of power actually slowed us down in a good way--we ate in front of the fireplace and talked. @Ana Lúcia: Thank you! Betty from New Jersey, United StatesBeautiful storm shot, I posted a storm shot also from Saturday. We also lost power. Just when I thought the storms were over, the worst hit! Love the light in this shot! 11 Mar 2008 7:21pm @Betty: Thank you. I visited your site and love your storm photo! @Scotfot: Familiar? Oh, do you mean stormy skies in Scotland? Paul Michko from Exton, PA, United StatesVery dramatic looking, Anita. I would love to see this converted to b&w. I think it would enhance the dramatic feel. 12 Mar 2008 10:46am @Paul Michko: Interesting suggestion. Problem: I don't know how. Scotfot from Kabul, AfghanistanYes, I do mean stormy skies in Scotland! The similarity is great! 12 Mar 2008 8:40pm lorie from United StatesCool photo - I love the mood and the blue sky peeking through the clouds.
