The white covering the field is lime, which was sprayed on by a truck a few days ago, leading me to assume this field will be planted with alphafa or another grass in the spring. Taken at sunset just up the road from my house.

Great shot - I have actually seen the dead corn stalks in my neck of the woods also and thought, "that would make a neat picture". You beat me to the punch! Very nice colors and excellent composition. The lime looks like frost and makes the image look more "wintery".

@Chris: Thanks, Chris. I look forward to seeing your photo of the same subject. It was actually more difficult to photograph than I expected. I visited a couple of fields, and this was the only shot worth posting.
Very nice work. The light is good as is the composition. I especially like the framing of the cornstalk in the immediate foreground. It gives the scene depth.

@GJC: Thank you. I was just wondering if I was too light. I'm glad you like it.
The position of the taller corn stalks in the foreground give the impression of an advancing army -- that foreground effect balances nicely with the farm buildings nestling in the background. Is there some sort of rule of thumb for dividing the composition of a photo (say into thirds)? Here the background taking the top one-fifth seems to work very well.

Wonderful light and it gives me the sense of stoic sentinels. Great capture, Anita.
