Young Pig

Young pig destined to be pork chops and sausage. The animals on the Kirk's small farm are pastured (not confined indoors) and treated well.

A few words about the EXIF data, beginning in April when I began using Nikon D300 and the Sigma 105mm macro: My new camera and macro lens record the relative or effective f stop, not the one seen on the lens. For an explanation of this, go to the next to the last question at this site.

@Mohsen: Thanks! I smiled, too.

It's a shame that such a smart animal is so delicious... and I suppose they could say that of us as well.. :-)

@Earnest: Indeed. At least these pigs get to root around in the dirt and enjoy their limited lives, unlike those in some nearby farms that are kept confined inside their entire lives.

Very good animal shot. I like that the pig is large in the image and lets us know he is the "one" and you also caught his home and surroundings.

@Shawna: Thanks, Shawna. That is what I was trying to do!

Nice to see some are still raised with room to roam, so many domestic animals are caged these days. I recently did a series of duck shots for a group concerning such treatment, well done!

@Dang: Thank you, Dang. If I hadn't been a vegetarian for so many years, I would be willing to eat the meat from the Kirk's farm. In fact, we buy their beef for my husband and son.

Thanks for visiting my blog today. There is a whole series of this family with different effects to a few. Anyway, I still love this pig shot. Although the leaves are very nice too,
